Graduate Aptitude Test for engineering ( Gate) exam successfully conducted today in all parts of India. Few lakhs students at a whole appeared in this exam. Other than written test, online test for two papers also conducted this time.
Gate exam is mainly meant for taking admissions in different Indian Institutes of Technology colleges like IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, IIT Roorkee — and above all of them Indian Institute of Science Bangalore ( IISC). Apart from these many NIT also take students on the marks basis and some other government and private engineering colleges too. After taking admissions students pursue their M. Tech course from any of the above mentioned college.
Well as told by few students who sat in the exam, paper was slightly tougher than the last year. So many of the students have performed poorly in the today exam. But still if paper is tough, then its tough for all, so no worry at all.
The Gate 2010 answer key and fully solved papers will be available in few days. Gate Forum and IES made easy have announced that they will release the answer papers in short period from now – most probably tomorrow morning. If you want to check answer from Gate Forum you will have to wait till tomorrow evening. They will publish it tomorrow at 7:30 PM. You can check it here.

137+276=435 how much is 731+672, will be equal to 534 because just reverse the digits i.e. 137 is 731 and 276 is 672 so 435 will be 534
Rahul sharma you are wrong, because it is a que. of octac no.,so its ans. is option (c).
but it have also 3 logic:-
1)as i say octal
2)as rahul sharma say
3)add both no. and pich up 1st digit of 1st no.and 2nd digit of 2nd no. then add it to sum of two no.
but this logic answer is not given in option.

Given
137 + 276 = 435
Therefore the following cases arise
a) Either 7 + 6 = 5 or 7 + 6 = 15 (units place)
1) When 7 + 6 = 5 ; we have 7 + 3 = 13 ( tens place) ; (because 7 + 3 can not be 3 for 7 can not be zero as 7+ 6 = 5 )
2) So it follows that 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 ( the additional 1 carried over form tens place to hundreds place as 7 + 3 = 13 ) . This implies 2 + 1 = 3
b) When 7 + 6 = 15 (units place) we have 7 + 3 + 1 = 13 ( The additional 1 carried over from units place) this implies that 7 + 3 = 12
1) Then 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 ( hundreds place )
So from the above cases we get the following sets of conclusions
a) 7 + 6 = 5 ; 7 + 3 = 13 ; 2 + 1 = 3
b) 7 + 6 = 15 ; 7 + 3 = 12 ; 2 + 1 = 3
If we consider (a) we get 731 + 672 as 633
if we consider (b) we get 731 + 672 as 1623
So answer is 1623……
But i didnt get this solution during exam time…..
most of the answers are wrong…..GATE forum buuddies are stupid and duffer i must say..

sorry miss uma u r wrong ……….the no 137 n 276 r d octal no.s n when u will add these two no u will get 435 in octal so conver first 731 n 672 into decimal then add them n the again the no into octal u will get ans 1623 which the third option……:)

137+276=435…. in these 137 and 276 are octal representations of the number 95 and 190.
(137=8^2 + 3*8 + 7, 276=2*8^2 + 7*8 + 6).
95 + 190 = 285..
435= 4*8^2 + 3*8 + 5 = 285
hence 731 in decimal = 473 and 672 = 442.
Now 473 + 442 =915
Octal representaion of 915 = 1623
Answer = 1623
