Mary Josephine Ray and Daisey Bailey – US oldest women died

At 114 years and 294 days United states oldest women’s Mary Josephine Ray died. She died on 7th of March 2010. Daisey Bailey also died same day who was 2nd oldest in United States.

Ray died just hours before Daisey Bailey, who was 113 years, 342 days, said L. Stephen Coles, a director of the Gerontology Research Group, which tracks and studies old people and certifies those 110 or older, called supercentenarians.



Mary Josephine Ray born on May 17, 1895 was the world’s second-oldest verified living person at the time of her death.Following the death of Gertrude Baines on 11 September 2009, Ray became the oldest person living in the United States.

 

She was the oldest recorded person ever to live in New Hampshire, although the oldest person born in New Hampshire was Nellie Spencer. Ray was also the oldest person ever recorded born in Prince Edward Island and the third-oldest person ever born in Canada.

Since the death of Maria de Jesus from Portugal, she was also the oldest person of European descent in the world. She was also ranked as one of the 30 oldest verified supercentenarians in history.

Daisey Bailey, who was born March 30, 1896, died in Detroit. She had suffered from dementia as per her family, which claimed she was born in 1895.
