Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics – Lindsey Vonn won women’s downhill gold

Lindsey Vonn as expected became the first American to win gold in women’s downhill this Wednesday. Julia Mancuso took the silver while Austrian Elisabeth Goergl won the bronze.

With a winning time of 1min 44.19sec she left she produced one of the flawless performance ever and outraced others to win the first spot.


After winning her first gold medal in this event she trold that – It’s one of the most incredible moments of my life . When I crossed the finish line and saw my name in first and Julia’s second, it was just the coollest thing”.

After 2006 when she got injured, she won her first gold medal in Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 this Wednesday. She will also participate in events Super Combined, Super-G, Slalom and Giant Slalom.

Just few weeks back she was in news due to her photoshoot in Sports illustrated where she featured in red Bikini with a rescue helicopter in the background. You can see the picture here.

Other than making Alpine Skiing history for the US, Lindsey Vonn is also the first American woman to win Olympic gold in an alpine speed event since childhood hero Picabo Street won super-G gold at the Nagano Games of 1998.

  1. I am so impressed by lindsey vonn , but this course was ridiculous . What are we watching the Olympics or the X games ?
