Heathrow Police today reportedly arrested Ejup Ganic – Former Bosnian President. He is accused of reponsible for ambushing a Yugoslav army column in Sarajevo.
Ejup Ganic has served two separate terms as president of the Muslim-Croat Federation in Bosnia. He was President of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1997 to 1999 and again from 2000 to 2001.
He was arrested today at Heathrow Airport in London over alleged war crimes after an arrest warrant was issued by the Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs in connection with the Sarajevo column case.
By his illegal action at least 18 people were killed. As high political and army officials he has been charged with planning and organizing perfidious attacks on objects and members of then Yugoslav Peoples Army in Sarajevo.
These objects were Army Hospital, JNA House, a convoy of medical vehicles and a convoy of the Second Army Command in Dobrovoljacka Street. By that they violated the agreement concluded between representatives of Bosnia/Herzegovina and Federal Republic of Yugoslavia over peaceful withdrawal of the JNA forces from the territory of Bosnia/Herzegovina as well as the Geneva Convention, as is written in the request for investigation filed by Serbian War crimes prosecution.
