Longest annular solar eclipse in 2010 january

On January 15th – The longest ever annular solar eclipse will be encountered. As per calculations this solar eclipse will be the longest in this millennium means between 2000-3000 said Ajay Talwar of Amateur Astronomers Association. One can see this heavenly beauty in India starting at about 11:00AM till 3:00PM.

As per NASA website – On Jan 15, this bigger annular eclipse of the sun is visible from within a 300 km wide track that traverses half of earth. The path of the moon’s antumbral shadow begins in Africa and passes through Chad, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Kenya, and Somalia.

In India eclipse will be seen first in south of Kanyakumari in Tamil Nadu and will travel to Dhanushkodi and Rameshwaram. It will then move towards North West part of India. This annular Solar eclipse will be best viewed from Dhanushkodi and it will be maximum in Rameshwaram for about 10 minutes and few seconds.  The maximum solar eclipse will be viewed in capital city New Delhi around 1:39PM.  On this auspicious day , Amateur Astronomers association is organizing a Public watch program with help of Nehru Planetarium.  In India this Solar eclipse will in end in Mizoram.

Today Boeing 787 very lightweight took its first test flight today.  Dreamliner took to the skies for the first time on Tuesday, marking a new era in air transport as it became the largest passenger jet to fly made mostly of composite materials as stated by Reuters.
