Somdev Devvarman won the gold medal in men’s singles Tennis at Commonwealth games in New Delhi today. He defeated Greg Jones of Australia in this game and claimed the victory.

Somdev beat Greg Jones by 6-4, 6-2 in finals at R.K Khanna Tennis Stadium today. And he broke the Australia’s monopoly on Gold medals in tennis men’s singles.

After the victory he told to the reporters that – “People underestimate how tough it is to get a gold medal. I worked really hard this week. I am really happy”.

Australia has already won almost all gold medals in tennis like Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Men’s Doubles Gold medals. And this victory really came as a shock to them.

Indian star Sania Mirza already had lost a game to Australian Rodionova earlier. So this victory came as a big relief for Indian tennis side as top notch players haven’t performed as per expectations.
